A "catnapping" at the Armstrong Hotel in Fort Collins, Colorado, last weekend had locals, hotel staff and guests shaken and on the lookout for Oreo, the resident cat, that has occupied the lobby for the past decade.

Thankfully, the search ended when the abducted feline was found behind an art museum on Tuesday, a block away from the hotel.

Police say surveillance video caught two men in their late teens or early 20s scooping Oreo up from the chair she occupies in the lobby. Hotel staff later identified the cat burglars as a duo that came into the hotel multiple times on Saturday inquiring about a room. They were repeatedly told there were no rooms available and they returned about 7:40 p.m. to allegedly do their dastardly deed.

Oreo is an extremely popular figure at the downtown Fort Collins hotel, charming nearby locals, staff and guests alike. She even has her own Facebook page.

There are cat doors in the hotel that allows Oreo to come and go as she pleases during the day. She is locked in an executive office at night for her safety.

When Oreo disappeared, widespread local media coverage, including the release of the surveillance video might have been what prompted Oreo’s release by her captors.
