    Hi,

just after some advice re breeding. Once the queen has been to the stud should she be kept indoors until she's given birth? Or once it's confirmed she is pregnant can she then be allowed out?

    thanks

    Alf

Honestly I think that really depends on the owner. I know people who have done both, and in my opinion I think it is best to keep them inside. But like I said, it all depnds on the owner.

If it's an expensive breed, then it should be kept indoors all the time. Pregnant or not. Otherwise you would be a cat less in next to no time.

Let her out especially if she’s comfortable being an indoor-outdoor cat. The outdoor exercise is healthy for her and her kittens. When she’s close to giving birth she’ll stick to you like glue . Make sure you can help her then . KMR canned cat milk is a tremendous bonus for a nursing mother and they love it . The kittens develop and grow much faster with the Mom supplemented with KMR .

Unfortunately you’re right. Over the years I’ve lost some cats ( particularly purebred kittens) due to theft. It’s a terrible loss each time and I say … why did I let them out ? But I trust that they got loving homes with people who couldn’t afford them and couldn’t resist the temptation to grab.
