In the video from January, 2014, seen below, two cats named Jax and Shira, liberated by Beagle Freedom Project, take their first steps of freedom!
Jax and Shira were rescued from a research laboratory in New York in January 2014.

The liberated lab animals’ foster caregiver made the video of their first moments of freedom, where they tentatively step from their carriers and begin to explore the world around them.

Xander has gone on to a wonderful life with Rachael Gruen and some kitty pals, and he can be followed at his Xander the Rescued Lab Cat Facebook page, where he marked his six month “adoptaversary” this week.

Jax leads, in his own words as written by his adopter, “an awesome life now and am sharing my story to help other lab animals like me!”

Xander’s page is full of happy domestic scenes that stand in unspoken contrast to his former life.

A look through his photos at Facebook shows Xander’s transition to a happy house cat. You can readily see the change in him through the look in his eyes. See the photos HERE.
