The good thing about my tile floors is that whenever my cats get too warm, they can stretch out on the nice cool tile floor.

But the bad thing is that my older cat sometimes likes to play chase with the younger cat. But she slips on the tile floor a lot, and sometimes goes flying across the apartment.

I really do not want to have to get carpeting because it would get more expensive to cool this place off, and we would be too warm overall. Maybe just a throw down rug.

Throw rugs are great for a variety of reasons. They're easy to replace obviously, so if they get damaged or if you just want to redesign the room, it's a piece of cake and relatively inexpensive. I also like how they break up a room into sections visually. My place is carpeted and I still use throw rugs throughout it for interest.
