    Was a week ago...oops!

It's never too late to act in honor of it, though. The day is to encourage people to "trap and release" to get feral cats fixed instead of allowing them reproduce like rabbits:

Aw, I can't believe I missed this. I try to trap and release year round. There are way too many strays in my neighborhood and I feel like my family is feeding them all.

I never knew there was an organized effort to do this. We always suspected it though since out of the blue we would start seeing a new cat roaming our neighborhood, and when we would ask all the people on our street, nobody would know who they belonged to. Both of the cats we took in as strays were fixed and had no collars.
