What is the purpose of the whiskers in cats? we were having a fire outside our backyard and our cat passed so near the fire. Next time I checked I notice that some of her whiskers were burned. Does that affect her daily life in anyway.

Whiskers are really important to a cat's balance and sense of space. They let the cat know, for example, where the edge of the food dish is, and where the edge of the door frame is so they don't crash into it. You should just keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get confused or run into stuff. They will grow back, though.

How scary for you and your cat! I wonder if your cat was just curious or not bothered by the heat? Cat's whiskers will grow back. I find them on my floor sometimes. I guess they fall out and re grow like regular hair.
