How often should indoor cats be brushed during heavy shedding?

    My indoor cat has been shedding much more than usual, especially during warmer weather. I brush regularly, but loose fur still builds up quickly and I want to prevent mats and hairballs without irritating the skin.

    How often do you brush your cats during heavy shedding, and which type of brush works best for short-haired and long-haired cats? Are there any signs that brushing is not enough and professional grooming may be needed?
