People can so cruel. I have heard some horror Halloween stories that involved black cats. Breaks my heart!

It won't let me post the picture so...

Just remember to keep your cats in the house a few days before Halloween until the day after.

Every year a number of cats go missing, especially black cats.

Also, remember to keep your cats in the bedroom with the door shut so they can't escape when you open your door for trick or treaters.

Yup--I was quite afraid of that this year...especially considering my black kitty, Mungo had actually gotten out last week! This came like right after I had read some of the warnings about it on Facebook. He returned the next night; but, you can imagine my horror... :(

It is a scary world out there. Black cats have long been targeted this time of year. I hope people are being cautious not just on Halloween or the night before (Devil's Night is actually worse, historically), but also the week or two prior when people may feel they are easier pickings. Given the black cat prejudices out there, I'd not want a black cat to be outdoors at all, regardless of time of year.

I recently read an article. I am not sure where it was at but there were a number of place cats who had an eye removed.
It just disgusts me. Anybody that could do this to a poor defenseless animal could do it to another person.

I would agree. People like this should not breathe the same air as us...

Yeah--that went through my mind as I was trick-or-treating with my son tonight--because we have a lot of strays in the town where I live...a lot that I take care of. Was just hoping that they would all be okay tonight. I need to build them some kinda shelter in my yard...
