When we lived out on the farm, years ago, as I recently wrote about in another post, our cats would have litters of kittens. Nowadays, our cats our indoors and they go to the vet to make sure no accidents happen, anyways! o_O But when I was around one of our mother cats, as a child, I always wanted to keep every single kitten in her litter! I would sit out inside their make shift home ( a circle of bales of hay or straw) and get so attached to them! Then I would cry each time, someone can to pick one up. Sometimes, we got to keep one, but no way the whole litter. I wonder, if anyone has ever kept the whole kitten caboodle of kitties? :p

I did when I was little, but now as an adult I'd not even think about it. But I think as a kid it only gets harder and harder to see your pets go. I had the same when my pet hen had chicks. I wanted to keep them so bad!!

Yes, as an adult, we should know better! It is not a good idea to keep the whole litter! Unless, you are looking for barn cats. I have an aunt, who kept several litters, and ran into problems! She did not get all of her cats fixed and there was too much inbreeding going on through the years, which caused some kitties to be born deformed. It was quite sad! Glad she stopped doing this!

P.S. Oh, baby chicks! Yes, be still my heart. They are almost as cute as kittens!

Woah!!!!!!!!!! So sorry to hear that!!!! That sounds so awful, poor kitties :( I've heard about the dangers of inbreeding, but have never really seen its effect face to face. I'm glad your aunt stopped doing that!

Well, I can't really say that I wouldn't keep all the kittens in a litter, because this is what I have ended up doing. Well, actually it was the surviving kittens, which in both litters came up to two cats each. But in the case of the female cats we had them all fixed. Because there is a chance of cats inbreeding and Pepper ended up having two girls and two boys in her kittens that lived.

Hi there, pafjih! What happened with your pepper? Have you found her? Haven't seen you on here for a while and was wondering how it was going with both of you. I hope you found her.
