Staff at a care home noticed a cat hanging around the building and later found that Cleo had followed her petmom there. Cleo and the woman have been reunited and the cat can stay at the home.

Staff at the Bramley House care home in the village of Westcott, Sussex, UK say they were amazed at the discovery that Cleo had found her petmom, Nancy Cowan, who recently moved into the home.

Nancy adopted Cleo when she found her as a stray in Richmond and the pair moved to Westcott eight years ago.

Six weeks ago, Nancy moved from The Paddock, also in the village, to the nearby Bramley House and left Cleo in the care of her former neighbors.

Bramley House employee Laura Costello told the local paper the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser: “About two weeks after Nancy moved in this cat just started turning up and sleeping on the benches outside the home. It was very strange.”

Staff liked the friendly cat but didn’t think much of her sudden appearance until about two weeks later.

Lara Costello continued telling the story, saying: “One of the other carers picked her up one day and Nancy said, ‘That cat looks like my cat.’

“Then she said ‘But my cat lost part of her tail in a traffic accident’. The carer looked at the cat she was holding and realized part of its tail was missing.
